The Missing Link in Breastfeeding Success
Clinical Practitioner Training
Tamika Newman
Date: September 5 & 6, 2026
Location: VIKA Currumbin
Time: 9am-5pm (Saturday & Sunday)
Tamika Newman (EM, PM, IBCLC, RN, OMT) is a leading practitioner in the integration of myofunctional principles into breastfeeding support.
Drawing on her expertise gained from working within private practice space as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Endorsed & Practice Midwife (EM, PM) and an Orofacial Myology Therapist (OMT), Tamika introduces a critical perspective often missing from core clinical training and dynamic techniques that provide feeding success and outcomes for families.
Facilitated by
Katrina Sparke IBCLC/RM/RN
With growing demand for Tamika’s mentorship across Australia and internationally, it has become clear that education in oral function—a key gap in clinical training—is urgently needed. This course was developed to provide clinicians with access to this essential knowledge and clinical approach.
Our other amazing speakers include:
Dr. Mona Board
Myofunctional & Biological Dentist
Melinda Booth
Cranial & Paediatric Osteopath
Claire Ryan
Speech Pathologist & Orofacial Myology Therapist

You’ll learn how to:
Understand the role of oral function in effective milk transfer
Recognise when feeding challenges go beyond positioning and latch
Identify when issues are mechanical—not behavioural or positional
Reframe common misconceptions (e.g. reflux, low supply, “difficult feeders”)
Apply a practical framework to assess complex cases
👉 Best for: Clinicians wanting clarity, confidence, and a new clinical lens
Day 2 — From Insight to Action
Take the next step—understanding what to do when oral function is impacting feeding.
You’ll learn how to:
Understand the impact of oral restrictions and dysfunction on feeding outcomes
Identify when and where to refer
Work effectively within a multidisciplinary care model
Apply practical strategies for managing complex cases
Understand long-term implications beyond breastfeeding
👉 Best for: Clinicians ready to apply targeted interventions and improve outcomes

This is not just more education.
For many clinicians, this becomes the missing piece that changes how they approach every difficult case.
